“Juanita”, the Dominican film based on the classic Merengue song “Volvió Juanita” took home 5 trophies of La Silla Awards.
Milly, the Queen of Merengue is celebrating and she have good reasons to do it. After got the highest honor in the ASCAP Awards this March 5th 2019, where she received the ASCAP LATIN HERITAGE AWARD for her successful and exemplary career of more than 4 decades in the music industry, she got the big news that the film “Juanita” was awarded with 5 trophies of LA SILLA Awards granted by the Dominican Association of Filmmakers (ADOCINE).
Milly, who in addition to being part of the main casts of the film, also wrote and performed the official soundtrack of the film“JUANITA NO COME CUENTO”. The song got the award on the category of BEST SONG. Leticia Tonos, the director of the film had problems to obtain the legal rights of the classic song “Volvió Juanita”, and that is the reason why the film did not not has the original version of the song as its official soundtrack.
“Juanita No Come Cuento”, is part of the new album of the Queen of Merengue which release is expected in the coming weeks.
Juanita won 5 of the most important awards of the night, including Best Director (Leticia Tonos), Best Main Actress (Cheddy Garcia), Best Secondary Actress (Ruth Emeterio) and Best Art Direction (Lorelei Sanz).
