Queen Of Merengue Milly Quezada classifies as the most nominated female artist of the Dominican Republic with four prior awards won from the Latin Grammy Academy for her outstanding musical career. With her new album nomination for “best Tropical contemporary/fusion” in today’s announcement, the Latin Grammy Academy is again tapping the Queen’s musical contribution giving her a fifth nomination this time for her new CD “MILLY & COMPANY”produced by Vecinos Entertainment and distributed by Oreja Media Group. The 20th Ceremony will take place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday November 14, 2019 and will be transmitted live on Univision Network.
The Queen’s 34th musical production showcases a number of guest artists’ collaborations in ten songs written, produced and arranged by distinguished Dominican artists and recordedand mixed in the Dominican Republic. Distributed by Oreja Media Group, the legendary merengue artist wanted to honor the valuable musical contributions made by her legendary predecessor Casssandra Damiron, La Soberana, who charted the path for all female Merengue singers in the industry. She wanted to honor her birthplace as the homeland of Merengue and Bachata and spearheaded the album with the magic of technology in a performance rendition of two of Cassandra Damiron’s emblematic merengue’s “La Celosa” and “Ella” arranged and mixed by renowned musician Manuel Tejada.
Other songs performed with world renowned guest artists included in “MILLY & COMPANY” are Bachata “Mi Pasado de Ti” with Anthony Santos, Bolero “Rutina” with Gilberto Santa Rosa, Merengue Tipico “La Pimienta es la que Pica” with Fefita La Grande and Maridalia Hernandez; Merengue Urbano with Vladimir Dotel of Ilegales, “De Colores,” also a Merengue duet with Pavel Nunez, “Yo Te Quiero Querer” and the newest song in Merengue rhythm “Con Los Ojos Cerrados” performed with the multitalented Hector Acosta, “El Torito”. The Queen also sings a song written by her son, Anthony Vasquez “Que Lluevan Corazones,” and the merengue theme of the Award Winning Movie “JUANITA” written by her, entitled “Juanita No Come Cuento.”
