Milly was recognized by the American Congress during the annual “Dominicans on the Hill” event.
“Dominicans on the Hill”, an event led by Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) annually, in its 3rd celebration, paid tribute to Dominican artists Johnny Ventura and Milly Quezada.
Dominicans on the Hill was created in an effort to highlight the contributions of Dominican Americans to life, culture, and the economy of the United States during Dominican Heritage Month.
During the event, a proclamation was made highlighting Milly’s patriotic values within the Dominican diaspora in the United States, her artistic achievements around the world, as well as being a symbol of tradition and culture through the world-popular rhythm of merengue.
Congressman Espaillat highlights that Milly became the first woman of Dominican descent to win the Latin Grammy, she performed at President George Bush’s inaugural gala, and was named one of the most outstanding women of 2019 by the Congress of the Dominican Republic
